Daddy makes me laugh

Jackson has been laughing for a couple of weeks now but I was just able to capture it on video last week. We were getting ready for bath time and JD's kisses got Jackson started on a giggle-binge! I made him keep doing it until I was able to run into the office to grab the video camera. There are a lot more shrieks than giggles but if you listen closely you will hear his little laugh. Ah, the joys of parenthood!

Welcome Spring

On Saturday, Jackson got outside to enjoy a welcome glimpse of spring. JD's diligent work on our yard these past few years has paid off in a beautiful, plush play space for Jackson (in striking contrast to the jungle we inherited with our house!). Jackson enjoyed the cool grass, warm sun and his spring outfit. Little did we know...this was the calm before the storm. That afternoon, he started to sneeze and by Sunday morning he had a full-blown cold and ear infection! I am happy to report that he is now well along the road to recovery. Before shaking his malady, however, he was sure to pass it on to Mommy...lucky me.

Happy Birthday Nolan!

On Saturday, we attended Nolan Kenworthy's baseball-themed first birthday party at his "dugout." We had a great time watching Nolan smear icing on his face! Nolan was born on April 7, 2008 at 6:37 pm. He weighed 6lbs 11.7 oz and was 20 inches long. Our whole family went to see Nolan in the hospital. Yes, that's right...I was just a few weeks pregnant with Jackson at the time. Check out the parents-in-training with baby Nolan!

Happy Easter!

We went to Terre Haute this weekend to celebrate Easter. Although he is not old enough to hunt for eggs, the Easter bunny visited Jackson anyway. He seemed to enjoy chewing on his basket more than playing with the contents!

We went to Mass at St. Josephs and I am happy to report that my favorite Easter songs were on the program ("This is the Feast" and "Jesus Christ is Risen Today"). I think they may be some of Jackson's favorites too - he smiled and cooed along with us!
My mom cooked a fantastic Easter lunch. Since I am a sucker for a good theme, I was really excited about the mini cheesecakes that looked like Easter baskets.

Happy Easter everyone! He Is Risen - ALLELUIA!

Four Years Later...

Four years ago today, JD and I were married at the Audobon House in Key West, Florida in front of 102 of our family and friends. We recited these beautiful vows that we wrote together.

I promise to love, honor and cherish you.
For all that you are,
All that you’re not,
And the dream of what you can be.
I give myself to you.
Your pain will be my pain,
Your joy will be my joy.
I have grown up with you, now I promise to grow old with you.
All I ask is you - your love, your strength and your warmth.
I choose you.

A lot has changed in these past four years...most exciting, the addition of our beautiful baby boy Jackson. He is a tribute to our love for each other and our future as a family.
Enough mushy stuff, on to the fun stuff - SAVE THE DATE! Well, we don't have an actual date yet but we are in the process of planning a trip to Key West for our 5 year anniversary. We hope that our friends and family will join us again for this milestone (and the drinks, sunbathing, partying, etc. that will inevitably ensue). Let's take a walk down memory lane...

Little Savage

Every Tuesday night, Mary Beth watches Jackson so that JD and I can meet with Indy Runners to do our long runs in preparation for the Mini Marathon in May. Jackson really enjoys this quality time with his Aunt Mary Beth. Last week, JD bought Jackson a Bebe Pod seat so that he can take in the world from a new perspective (sitting up, rather than lying down). Clearly, he enjoys this new vantage point and all that it has to offer!
